FAQ

Below are answers to some of our most asked questions. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact us during business hours.

What are your hours?

Monday - Friday: 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: Closed

Boarding drop-off times are 7:30 am - 9:00 am and 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Monday - Friday. There will be no weekend drop-offs or pick-ups of boarding dogs or cats between the hours of 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

We want to accommodate our customers needs as best we can, so we offer drop off and pick up by appointment for an extra charge and/or pre-payment. Please inquire with the front office to see if we can arrange this.

Check-out time is 12:00 (Noon) daily. We work just like a hotel. If you pick up by 12:00 (Noon) there is no charge for that day. If you pick up after 12:00 (Noon), we start the charge for that day.

Holiday hours The office will be closed early on Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and closed early on New Year’s Eve through New Year’s Day.

When is Daycare available?

Daycare is offered Monday – Friday. We ask that you call the day before so that we can be appropriately staffed for the number of dogs in attendance of daycare. Payment will be requested at the time that you drop your dog off. If you need a drop-off and pick-up time outside of our regularly scheduled hours, you may ask to see if we can accommodate you. This can be arranged by calling the office and speaking with a member of our staff. With the staff shortage, we may not always be able to do so.

Daycare can also be added to your dog’s boarding stay. Weekend daycare is available for the dogs who are boarding with us.

What vaccinations are required for my dog?

We require the following vaccinations for your dog or puppy.

  • DHPP – After the puppy series and 1-year booster, every 3 years. We will accept your veterinarian’s recommendation as long as it is within the AAHA/AVMA guidelines. Puppies must have at least 2 vaccinations of the puppy series.
  • Rabies – After the puppy vaccination and 1-year booster, every 3 years.
  • Bordetella – Every 6-12 months, per your vet’s recommendation.
  • Titer results will be accepted per your vet’s recommendation for the DHPP.

We require vaccinations records and strongly recommend giving the vaccinations at least 3-4 days prior to your check-in date. This will give your dogs immune system a chance to respond to the vaccination prior to their stay and the dog to recover if the shots cause side effects.

It is recommended that puppies receive the second vaccination of their puppy series two weeks prior to checking in to Mis Amigos Pet Care Center.

What vaccinations are required for my cat?

We require the following vaccinations for your cat or kitten.

  • FVRCP – After the kitten series and 1-year booster, every 3 years. We will accept your veterinarian’s recommendation as long as it is within the AAHA/AVMA guidelines. Kittens must have at least 2 vaccinations of the kitten series.
  • Rabies – After kitten series and 1-year booster, every 3 years.

What do I need to bring for my pets boarding stay?

You do not need to bring anything. We supply food, stainless steel dishes, and beds. We ask that you do not bring dishes from home. The dishes are washed after each meal and it is difficult to keep the bowls separated and returned to the correct dogs.

What kind of food do you supply?

We feed the dogs and cats in our care regular formula Canidae. Canidae is a quality food that offers the choice of their regular formula and single source protein in dry food and canned food. There is an extra charge for single source protein food and canned food.

Can I bring my pet’s own food?

Absolutely. We supply a good quality food, but understand that some pets may have special dietary needs or preferences. We ask that you bring enough food for the pet’s entire stay and store it in an airtight container. Make sure the name of the food and your pet’s name is on the container. We ask for feeding instructions at check-in, but it is always a good idea to attach the feeding instructions to the food container.

Can you administer medication?

We regularly administer oral and topical medications, including eye treatments. We are also able to give insulin injections to both cats and dogs. A daily “Special Care” charge may be applied to medications that require extra handling.

We ask that all medication be brought in the original containers with correct dosing instructions.

Can I bring my pet’s bedding or toys?

We prefer to provide our own bedding, but you may bring a small blanket or towel that is machine washable. Please write your pet’s first and last name on it and we will make every effort to return it to you, but cannot be responsible for lost or damaged bedding or towels. Please do not bring large blankets or pet beds. Cloth toys should also be marked and machine washable. The same effort will go into caring for them, but please leave their irreplaceable toys at home.

Can I bring my pet when I take a tour?

Please do not bring your pet for a tour. We require that all pets permitted inside the facility, have completed the registration process with proof of vaccinations and a pre-entry exam.

What is your parasite (fleas, ticks, worms) policy?

It is important to the health of all of our guests that we perform an entry exam on all pets to look for external parasites (fleas and/or ticks) and our staff are always on poop patrol for internal parasites (worms). In the event that we discover parasites, we will make an attempt to contact you, but will proceed to treat the pet for the type of parasites found. This may include calling your pet’s veterinarian for a prescription. Any treatment that we administer will incur a charge.

How far in advance should I book my pet’s boarding stay?

We usually have plenty of room, but during holidays and summertime we can be very full. School holidays are another time we may not have availability. If you have firm dates, I would not hesitate to schedule your pet’s stay.

What is important for you to know about my pet?

We need to know about your pet’s fears and preferences. Some examples are: Is your pet afraid of fireworks, loud noises, or thunderstorms? Does your pet guard their food, bed, or toys? Will your dog’s heart worm medication be due while they are with us? These are the kinds of things that will help us do our best to make sure your pet is well cared for while they are here. Please make a list of anything else that is important to your pet.

Will my dog get to go outside?

All boarding dogs are taken outside for breaks a minimum of three times a day. We also have services that you can add on to their stay if you would like to give them more enrichment. These are listed on our website.

What do I need to know when I take my dog home after their stay?

Your dog(s) will be excited to see you after their stay. Because of their excitement they may act hungry, and because they pant when excited, they may be thirsty. It is recommended that you allow them to settle in for a few hours before feeding and add water in small amounts. Drinking and eating too much too quickly can lead to an upset stomach and possible vomiting.

Can my pet have a bath or groom before they come home?

We do offer departure services based on availability. This can be scheduled at the time you book your pet’s reservation. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. We offer anything from a nail trim, bath, to a full groom.
